high speed internet surge protector on all of the time?

Just got high speed internet. Installer said to turn off computer at end of day but always leave surge protector on. The light from the modem blinks constantly and of course there’s the electricity. Is this really correct. You can’t turn off surge protector?

    We always leave our surge protector on. One time we didn’t and during a thunderstorm our modem got fried!

    Why dont you just turn off the modem?!? If you are turning off the computer anyway there is no reason to keep it turned on. Then you can turn off the surge protector too!

    i have comcast. I have had my computer for 1 year and only shut it off about 2 times. If you turn off your computer LEAVE the surge protector on. If lightning strikes your house your computer wont work anymore..
