Easter Baby on the way asked:
i’m 7 weeks pregnant and my morning sickness has hit an all time high. i couldn’t keep anything down all weekend.
Lucky i have a rostered day off today otherwise i would have been throwing up at work all day.
Does morning sickness stay like this? how am i going to survive at work? no-one at work knows i’m pregnant yet, and i don’t want them getting any ideas about it yet…

Yep, I am also 7 weeks pregnant. I just started having issues with morning sickness, but not too bad. I have heard that watermelon helps with morning sickness during pregnancy. I am not sure if it is true, but I have eaten about a half of one today and I feel great! Good luck!
Yes, mine lasted for about 3 months. I would be sick every single morning and sometimes in the evening too. I was going to school for X ray technician at the time and I would throw up while I was getting ready in the morning, and a couple times once I got to the hospital for clinical. I eventually had to with drawl that semester because I was sick way too much and they were very strict on being late and missing days. I know it stinks but it will pass eventually. Although I did know one lady who said she had it the whole pregnancy. But once it does then you can enjoy your pregnancy until the heartburn, swelling, and over all feeling of being huge sets in. lol But then once they come you forget about all that you went through and are so grateful for the little being that you created.
My morning sickness didn’t stop until around 12 weeks.
Some people suggest eating a lemon to calm sickness and it did work sometimes for me. I know with me – I would get sick if I didn’t eat something so I would try to snack on things like crackers or apples.
Everybody is different with morning sickness. Some people don’t even get it at all!
Places like Motherhood Maternity offer these little candies for sale that are supposed to help with morning sicknes. I never tried them because I didn’t know about them until my sickness was over but you could try those.
Sorry to hear you’re struggling with morning sickness. It can be horrid. It’s fair enough that you don’t want your work colleagues to know about it (just a heads up: don’t be surprised if they work it out, though – a pharmacist I worked with called us all together to break “big news” to us and we had already figured it out: she couldn’t believe it).
Anyway, from what pregnant friends have told me, ginger is great for calming that pregnancy-induced sick feeling. You can buy travel sickness tablets (so that you don’t have to eat) from your local pharmacy that consist of ginger (on its own) or a form of ‘ginger punch’ (Dr Red is one example). In pharmacy, we tend to sell a lot of these products to patients going through chemotherapy to suppress their nauseousness. While you’re there, have a chat with the girls about it. We see conditions like this regularly and it might be worth picking their brains as to what they have seen work for other mums.
All the best!
I had morning sickness my whole pregnancy! It ******! but those candies at Maternity stores did the trick for me! Also drinking ginger tea or even just ******* on lemon candies.
Also, my midwife told me to take extra strength Gravol and a B6 tablet 2x a day, and it worked! I did this my whole pregnancy, no negative efects.
I’m 7 weeks and 2 days, and my night sickness got worse these last 3 days. Its unbearable some nights. Saltines and ginger ale are my best friends. Also, when I feel like I’m about to puke, I eat atleast 2 slices of break and guzzle down a glass of ice cold water.
Morning sickness begins around week 6 of pregnancy, peak during week 8 or 9 and wane after week 13. More instant remedies and info at
