My Jeep makes a high pitched noise when it sits in the cold for long periods of time?

high time

My 2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee tends to sit out in the cold for about 8 hours while I’m at school during the day. When it stays around 32 degrees or colder during the day, my car makes a high pitched squealing noise when I lightly press the gas. If I press the gas hard or break, the noise stops. This only happens when it is very cold outside, and it has been sitting outside for hours. The noise is also a lot louder from outside than it is inside. What is the noise?

you might need a new belt

    Probably a slipping fan belt.

The noise is from your belt. it can be from a loose belt, or a worn belt.

I agree with them, it’s belt related, either the belt or the tensioner or both.
