Please describe a time when you completed an important piece of work to high standards which required interpretation and application of financial policies and procedures (please indicate what the situation was, what financial policies and procedures you were working to and why, what steps you took to ensure these were interpreted and applied correctly, and how effective the outcome was)

    This sounds like a homework assignment–do it yourself! Actually , the last time was when I did a grant application for an artist in residence for my class and it took mucho timo and putting of heads together and phone calls and banging on doors at the PO to let me postmark it on time. And of course begging people for money. But it was worth it.

    I was an HR manager and hired a full shift of CENAs.

    The nature of your question sounds like you are working on either an assignment or doing this for a job interview. You really need to answer these types of questions yourself.

    I put together a proposal and then a bid to get government money for a new project, at first it seemed easy. This involved working with 12 different partners and following through on decisions taken, that meant all work had to be to a very high and professional standard.

    Then came the problems, the budgets!

    I had to look at existing services and budget spend and then working with partners had to budget for the new proposal, the budgets took three weeks of full time equivalent work to complete.

    I got my head around, rent, salaries, pensions, over heads, other expenditure and capital costs not bad for a non-financial manager. I could not have done it without lots of research and Microsoft Excel.
